The Bauhaus, set for dinner<\/h3>\n

Otti Berger designed textiles the way an architect designs a building: grids, blocks, repetitions that break just enough to stay alive. The Tablecloth OttiBerger 2 picks up that logic \u2014 stripes alternating with solid blocks of color \u2014 and brings it to an actual table, where it’s seen up close, not on a wall.<\/p>\n

This isn’t a strict reproduction: it’s a tribute, designed and woven by L’Arcolaio<\/strong>, the artisan workshop in Abruzzo that weaves hemp, cotton and linen on jacquard looms. It’s one of the mills we hand-pick \u2014 one by one \u2014 to build, together with you, tables that don’t look like anyone else’s.<\/p>\n

The fabric: linen and hemp, by L’Arcolaio<\/h3>\n

The cloth is made from 50% linen and 50% hemp<\/strong>. It’s L’Arcolaio<\/strong> who designs the pattern, weaves it and finishes this linen and cotton tablecloth by L’Arcolaio<\/strong>: it isn’t one of our own branded pieces, and it’s only fair you know that \u2014 the tailoring story we tell about our own collections (Magnolia, Nopal, the Vintage line) doesn’t apply here. What we bring is the choice: we looked for a fabric that could hold its own on a contemporary table without disappearing, and found it on an Abruzzo jacquard loom.<\/p>\n

The cotton keeps the weave crisp and the edges clean where the pattern needs it; the linen gives it the soft hand and relaxed drape you’d expect from a natural fiber.<\/p>\n

The pattern: four colors, one language<\/h3>\n

The pattern alternates thin stripes with solid color blocks, in a grid whose density shifts across the cloth \u2014 never predictably symmetrical, always legible. It comes in four colors: blue<\/strong>, grey<\/strong>, clay<\/strong>, green<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As with all natural linen products, small fibre irregularities may be visible \u2014 slubs, weave variations, slight differences in thread thickness. These are not flaws: they are the signature of natural fabric, and part of what gives the cloth its character.<\/p>\n

There’s also something particular to this exact pattern: it’s cut in a slightly different spot on each piece, so the placement of stripes and blocks is never quite identical between two tablecloths of the same color. It isn’t an inconsistency \u2014 it’s the natural result of a grid pattern cut one piece at a time. Buying a Tablecloth OttiBerger 2 means, in a sense, owning a piece that doesn’t repeat.<\/p>\n
