The Magnolia napkin is the most intimate piece of the family: the winter garden of the collection — white magnolias, pine branches, green berries in watercolour — arrives in your guest’s hands. The design is placed: a composition purposely created for the 15″ x 15″ format, not cut from the tablecloth fabric. Each Christmas linen napkin is a complete botanical picture.

There are four different compositions: the pair of open magnolias among pine needles; the single magnolia framed by green and blue berries; the diagonal branch with a bud; the cluster of flowers with berries above. The napkins are sold individually — compose your table choosing the designs one by one, or let the variety surprise you: sisters, not twins.

As with all natural linen products, small fibre irregularities may be visible — slubs, weave variations, slight differences in thread thickness. These are not flaws: they are the signature of natural fabric, and part of what gives the cloth its character.

The Magnolia napkin gives its best on a quiet base that lets it speak. Our favourite pairing: our vintage plain linen tablecloths in green and taupe tones — the flowered napkin resting on solid linen becomes the detail guests notice first. It also works the other way: on the Magnolia tablecloth, the coordinated napkins complete the story for the grand holiday table.

And like the whole Magnolia family, the red-free palette keeps them beautiful from December to the end of winter.

Because it is a placed design: a finished composition, made for the gesture of unfolding the napkin — not a random fragment of fabric.

Because individual sale means freedom: two napkins for Christmas Eve breakfast for two, six for Christmas lunch, a single one to tie onto a gift.

Because four different compositions on the same table have the natural variety of a real branch.

And because it is an exclusive La Bottega di Casa design: you won’t find it anywhere else.

The best suggestion: our vintage plain linen tablecloths in green or taupe — the two tones the design already holds, in the pine needles and branches. On sage green the napkin blends into the table; on taupe it stands out like a picture. Alternatively, the Magnolia tablecloth for the complete holiday coordination. White or ivory ceramics, transparent glassware, pewter and old silver.
