The Magnolia placemats bring the winter garden of the tablecloth to the individual format: large white magnolias, pine branches and green berries in watercolour, on pale linen ground. With one important difference that tells the care behind the project: these are placed designs — compositions purposely created for the 19″ x 16″ format, not simply cut from the tablecloth fabric. Each placemat is a complete botanical picture, designed to live on its own under the plate.

The set includes four placemats with four different compositions: one richer in berries, one where pine dominates, one with clustered magnolias, one more open and airy. Sisters, not twins — on the table, the effect is a single winter story that changes framing at every seat.

As with all natural linen products, small fibre irregularities may be visible — slubs, weave variations, slight differences in thread thickness. These are not flaws: they are the signature of natural fabric, and part of what gives the cloth its character.

The Magnolia Christmas linen placemats are the simplest way to bring the collection’s refined Christmas to the everyday table: the holiday breakfast, lunch in the kitchen, the informal family dinner on Christmas Eve. On bare wood they are complete as they are; over a plain pale tablecloth — white, pearl grey, sage green — they become four pictures resting on the table.

And after the holidays, they don’t retire: the palette of greens and neutrals, with no red, keeps them beautiful all winter long.

Because they are placed designs: each placemat is a finished composition, not a random fragment.

Because the four variations give the table the natural variety of a real branch — never the mechanical repetition of the same motif.

Because this is the subtle luxury of the Magnolia family in its most everyday format — and the easiest to gift: a set of four, ready to go, for a very refined Christmas.

And because it is an exclusive La Bottega di Casa design: you won’t find it anywhere else.

The four different compositions are the character of the set — but if you prefer all placemats with the same design, our atelier can check availability: write to us at info@labottegadicasa.com and we will be happy to help.

As with the tablecloth: plain linen napkins — sage green to echo the pine needles and berries, white or pearl grey for a quieter register. White or ivory ceramics, transparent glassware, pewter and old silver. A sprig of real pine on the napkin, and the table is done.
